The Abalone Desk Set was one of the most popular desk sets produced by Tiffany Studios.
This bronze Paper Rack from the Abalone set retains its original bright gold patina. The flat planes are decorated with a low relief motif of stylized grape clusters formed by inset discs of abalone shell in variegated purple and greenish tones with silvery natural iridescence. These grape clusters are encircled by an Art Nouveau style motif representing grape leaves and coiling vines.
This rare piece of original Tiffany Studios metalwork is stamped on the underside with firm’s mark and model number.
