This unusual example of Tiffany Favrile Glass was likely intended for use as a potpourri diffuser. This spectacular piece is a rare example of collaboration between Tiffany Studios and Tiffany & Company.
The low, wide favrile glass bowl features a wheel-carved cameo style motif of pink flowers with yellow centers surrounded by pointed green leaves, against a frosted opalescent ground intended to call to mind the qualities of Rock Crystal or quartz. The base glass has been additionally carved with an unusual wrigglework pattern.
The bowl features a sterling silver mount and circular inset lid with a reticulated motif of blossoms and branches in the Japonesque style by Tiffany & Co.
The favrile glass bowl features an inscribed signature on the underside, while the sterling silver mount is fully hallmarked and features the additional detail of an engraved monogram on the interior of the lid.
