This original Tiffany Lamp features an early variation of the 20-inch diameter Daffodil Shade designed by Clara Driscoll under the direction of Louis Comfort Tiffany, who was enamored with the iconic spring flowers.
This 20-inch diameter conical shade features a leaded glass motif of simplified yellow daffodil blossoms with petals formed by mottled yellow Tiffany Glass, the trumpets formed by rippled glass, which cascade from crown of the shade on the thin stems in variegated shades of green. The lower border features a row of heavily mottled translucent yellow glass, accenting the daffodils. The background shifts from deep green to creamy green near the lower border, where a decorative border is formed by two horizontal rows of mottled green glass wich enclose a thinner row of heavily mottled translucent yellow glass, accenting the daffodils above.
The shade rests on an original bronze Tiffany Lamp base with an attenuated faceted stem with subtle faceting and a footed stylized dish base, in rich brown-green patina.
Both the shade and base of this authentic Tiffany Lamp are signed.
