This early Tiffany Favrile Glass Cabinet Vase features an unusual twisted, pillowed neck. The vase is characterized by an exceptional shimmering iridescent surface in rainbow tones ranging from magenta through silvery blue, soft green and gold.
The dark, opaque vase is decorated with a motif of broad, pointed pulled leaves in silvery glass with narrow striations which rise up from the base and spread across the rounded body and up the tapered neck.
A related vase dating from the early 1890s with similar decoration was donated to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (96.17.4) by Henry Osborne Havemeyer, one of Louis Comfort Tiffany's most important clients.
This fine example of Tiffany Favrile Glass is inscribed on the underside with signature and date code.
