This Early Decorated Tiffany Favrile Glass Cabinet Vase is formed by opaque glass in a rare shade of green showcasing a soft iridescent finish.
The entire surface of the footed, baluster form vase is decorated with a motif of thin, twining vines and rounded lily pad-shaped leaves in a more reflective silvery iridescent glass than the body. The decoration shifts through hues of deeper blue near the foot to pale silvery-blue tinged with hints of gold near the rim.
This exceptional vase is part of an important series of Favrile Glass vases with similar coloration and lily pad decoration that were produced in the same signature sequence. Several of these vases which were selected by Louis Comfort Tiffany for inclusion at international exhibitions at the turn of the century, including at the Prima Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte Decorativa Moderna held in Turin, Italy in 1902. A period photograph of that vase appears in the printed catalogue for the exposition.
This rare and important early example of authentic Tiffany Favrile Glass is inscribed on the underside with signature and date code.
