This unusual Tiffany Favrile Glass vase dates to the earliest years of blown glass production undertaken at Louis Comfort Tiffany's direction in Corona, Queens, which commenced around 1893.
The opaque body of this cabinet vase, in swirling shades of golden yellow, is decorated with an Art Nouveau style strapwork motif formed by applied glass in metallic tones which shift from bronze near the shoulder of the vase to a gunmetal silver near the foot. This vase is part of a small early series of vases utilizing this complicated technique.
