This footed baluster form Cabinet Vase is an exceptional example of the early Favrile Glass being produced at Louis Comfort Tiffany’s glass furnaces in the 1890s, when his glassblowers were experimenting with production methods and decorative techniques and formulas.
The body of the narrow vase features two horizontal bands of iridescent swag decoration in silvery tones, some areas with additional white striations. These lighter decorative elements stand out against the dark background of the base glass, which also features a soft subtle surface iridescence.
The underside of this original and rare early Tiffany Favrile Glass Vase is inscribed with signature and date code.
