This unusual early Tiffany Favrile Glass vase dates from the final years of the 1890s, a period of fervent experimentation at the private glass furnace owned and operated by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
Of stylized gourd form, this opaque vase features a rounded, stepped body and tapered neck. The surface is characterized by soft silvery-blue iridescence. The tan glass forming the lower portion of the vase is separated from the buttery yellow glass of the upper half by a striated band of pulled and hooked motifs articulated in highly reflective silvery-blue iridescent glass.
This rare and early example of original Tiffany glass is inscribed on the underside with signature and date code.
