This decorated finger bowl and underplate are early examples of Tiffany Favrile Glass and date from the mid-1890s during a period in which Tiffany’s glassblowers were exploring the decorative effects possible with the material.
In both the finger bowl and underplate, a body of clear glass has been decorated with a pulled feather motif in fine striations of green and white glass, framed by a thicker border of white.
The underside of the bowl and plate are each inscribed sequentially with a date code indicating that the pieces were made around 1896-97 and have remained together since the time of production.
