Diameter: 6 ½ inches (15.24 cm)
This covered Tiffany Favrile Glass jar features a series of applied stylized rounded lily pads which encircle the body of the vase at alternating heights. A thin stem descends from each lily pad to the foot of the vase, forming a series of delicate vertical ribs.
The matching domed lid features the same decoration of lily pads which radiate outwards from a rounded glass knob formed by an exceptional piece of slightly transparent Tiffany Glass marked by gestural swirls and a soft rainbow iridescence.
A nearly identical piece was originally part of Louis Comfort Tiffany's collection of Favrile Glass, which was prominently installed at Laurelton Hall, his palatial estate in Oyster Bay, Long Island. The piece was sold when the contents of Laurelton Hall were auctioned off by Parke-Bernet Galleries in 1946 (lot number 259).
