This Tiffany Favrile Pottery Vase is a stylized interpretation of a bulb of Kohlrabi cabbage, the bulb of the plant forming the lower half of the vase, with three thin stems translated to curved handles which pull away from the rounded body, while the broad and heavily veined leaves of the plant form the upper portion of the vase and resulting irregular rim.
The sculptural, naturalistic motif is accented by a masterfully applied dripping variegated yellow glaze.
A similar example is illustrated in Tiffany Favrile Pottery and the Quest of Beauty by Dr. Martin Eidelberg, fig. 244, p. 95.
