Described as symbolizing "a healer" in period catalogues, this Frog Hand Cooler was first designed for Steuben by Lloyd Atkins in 1974.
Steuben introduced the Hand Cooler line of crystal in the late 1970s as a modern reinterpretation of the porcelain and glass objects used by Victorian ladies in the 19th century to stay cool at social gatherings. Each piece was a diminutive oval shaped symbolic sculpture of a creature.
