Tiffany Studios developed their trademark gold iridescent Favrile Glass around the turn of the twentieth century, utilizing the striking glass formula to produce blown glass in a variety of styles from dramatic art glass to more utilitarian tableware.
These six Liqueur Glasses feature thin stems, rounded feet, and delicately blown cups with slightly flared rims. The glasses are each formed by a base of gold glass with surface iridescence in a range of colors from silvery gold to blue and some with hints of magenta.
Tiffany Studios’ gold iridescent glass was wildly popular at the time of production, and remains so among modern Tiffany glass collectors. In the early 1900s, Liqueur Glasses like these would have been available for purchase directly from Tiffany Studios showroom in New York City, or from a variety of historic American luxury retailers around the country who carried Tiffany’s goods including Marshall Field & Co., Shreve & Co., and J.E. Caldwell, among others.
