A footed teardrop shaped vase in the Kraka technique by artist Sven Palmqvist for Orrefors. Palmqvist introduced the technique in 1944; it was initially referred to as spetsgraal, or "lace graal."
In Kraka glass, wire mesh is placed over a blank and then etched to produce a pattern. The resulting motif of curved netting in thin strands of blue glass is encased in a thick layer of polished clear glass; the netting is tighter and darker near the thin neck of the vase, and stretches out as the lower half of the vase widens.
This vase is signed on the underside with artist's name and date code.
Height: 8 inches (20.3 cm)
