A Tiffany Studios Marsh Marigold planter comprising a design in relief of the stylized flowers, reniform leaves and tangled stems of the Marsh Marigold (commonly known as Kingcup or Water Buttercup), a common wetland plant which grows in dense clusters and flowers in the spring. This heavy bronze planter in doré patina retains its original copper liner. The impressive scale affords ample room for an eclectic arrangement of plants and flowers.
In sales catalogues produced by Tiffany Studios at the turn of the 20th century, this piece was listed with other "Table Ferneries" or "Fern Dishes."
This planter is impressed with the firm’s mark and is numbered.
