This Tiffany Favrile Glass Vase is a tour-de-force of technique and showcases the mastery of the craftsmen working at Louis Comfort Tiffany’s glass furnaces in Corona, Queens.
Impressive not just in its unusual scale, the elongated body of this monumental vase also features extremely fine decoration which stands out against the bright silvery blue iridescent body.
At the rounded shoulder, a horizontal band formed by a series of naturalistically wheel-carved white rambling wild roses, their centers carefully articulated and the edges of their petals artfully curling over, are interspersed throughout a motif of swirling vines and spiky green leaves formed by sparkling aventurine glass with additional acid-etched detailing, including thorns on the vines and veins on the leaves.
This rare and exceptional piece of original Tiffany Glass features an inscribed signature and date code on the underside.
