This extremely rare Tiffany Lamp pairs an unusual 10-inch diameter Autumn Leaves Ball Shade with the Artichoke Table Base.
One of only a handful of extant examples of this model, the leaded glass shade depicts swirling leaves in the vibrant shades of autumn, ranging from deep green streaked with the first touches of orange and yellow to deep amber and red hues. These opalescent slightly opaque leaded glass leaves stand out against a background of pale blue translucent glass streaked with hints of orange and green throughout, giving the impression of layers of fall foliage against a clear autumn sky.
The shade was likely designed by Clara Driscoll, head of the Women's Glass Cutting department at Tiffany Studios and the designer behind some of the most iconic Tiffany lamps. This globe form was one of the more technically complex shades offered by Tiffany Studios; it was only produced for a short period of time around the turn of the 20th century.
This shade is supported by an elegant bronze Artichoke Table Base in a rich brown patina.
Both the shade and the base of this early and rare authentic Tiffany lamp are signed.
