This pair of rare openwork panels dates was produced around 1900 by Tiffany Glass & Decorating Co., an early business venture formed by Louis Comfort Tiffany which designed and fabricated custom decorative objects and architectural elements for specific interior design commissions. These pieces would have adorned public and private buildings alike, and would have been tailored to accommodate a client's color palette and particular configuration.
These hanging panels are formed by rounded pressed Tiffany Favrile Glass “Cabochons” which have been mounted in brass bezels and linked together through a “chainmail” structure of thin round metal links.
The rounded glass gems, ranging from opalescent white and translucent gold to an amber tone, have been arranged into blocks of color which form a rectilinear motif.
Each panel measuring:
Length: 14 ½ inches (36.8 cm)
Width: 32 inches wide (81.3 cm)
