A Tiffany Favrile Glass "Reactive" Paperweight Vase, of bulging double gourd form with tapered neck, the background ranging from shades of blue to green, with allover decoration of dark green leaves and and swirling mossy green vines, with a cranberry interior which reacts to light reflected on the exterior, shifting color from to blue-violet.
"Reactive" Favrile Glass was one of the many innovations in glassblowing achieved by Louis Comfort Tiffany and Arthur Nash at the Tiffany Furnaces in Corona, Queens; this innovative effect was achieved through the introduction of various metallic elements during the glassblowing process, an often volatile process that took great skill to achieve.
