This original Tiffany Lamp features the rare Rose Border shade, a leaded glass design that combines a geometric background with a floral motif.
In this example, the background of the domed shade is formed by gridded Tiffany Glass in an unusual shade of blue-green with dramatic mottling. Near the lower margin of the shade, the rectilinear pattern is interrupted by a horizontal band of rambling roses in shades of pink and magenta with pointed green leaves and thorny brown branches which weave through the flowers and foliage. The roses feature bright yellow centers; several of the centers are formed by “confetti” or “foliage” glass. The petals of the roses are formed by variegated streaky Tiffany Glass in shades of pink; a few of the flowers include streaks of blue.
The shade is paired with a bronze Decorated Cushion Table Base resting on four feet, the rounded portion of the base decorated with the “onion pod” motif, in a rich brown patina.
Both the shade and base of this authentic Tiffany lamp are signed.
