An unusual gourd shaped vase by German artist Géo Wagner.
The form of this vase was inspired by antique Japanese ceramic vessels featuring handles in the form of dragons.
The body in all-over mottled, matte green glaze, the "stem" with applied, undulating, open-mouthed stylized dragon at the neck taking the form of a handle, accented beneath with a dripped, glossy, red glaze which seems to flow from the dragon itself.
A similar vase was exhibited at La Société des Artistes Francais in 1902.
