This early Tiffany Favrile Glass Vase is an exceptional example of the blue iridescent glass developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany’s glassblowers at the turn of the 20th century.
The baluster form vase, formed by opaque pale blue glass characterized by silvery surface iridescence, is decorated with a motif in dark, inky blue glass of thin swirling vines and large pointed leaves with scalloped edges, a rare variation on Tiffany Studios’ more commonly seen “Leaf and Vine” decoration. From the inverted, rounded rim, a pulled motif in the same dark blue glass descends into the decoration.
This fine example of Tiffany Favrile Glass is inscribed on the underside with signature and date code.
