This early Slab Coffee Table was commissioned directly from George Nakashima Woodworkers in the mid-1950s.
The Slab series was one of the first lines of coffee tables designed by Nakashima after he settled in New Hope, Pennsylvania in the mid-1940s.
This example features a thick slab of black walnut characterized by figured grain with visible darker heartwood along one side and a portion of live edge, supported by an angled leg and simple base.
