While today this style of Tiffany lamp is commonly called “Linenfold,” Tiffany Studios referred to this line in both advertisements and internal records as Favrilefabrique. "Linenfold" or Favrilefabrique shades utilize panels of pressed glass intended to replicate the luminosity and drapery of a silk or fabric shade. Tiffany Studios introduced this line of Tiffany Lamps around 1915 and produced “Linenfold” panels in a range of shapes, sizes and colors allowing for a variety of shade models.
This example features the largest model of “Linenfold” shade produced by the company. The shade features twelve large panels of pressed frosted white Tiffany glass, framed above and below by horizontal borders of slightly thicker glass.
This “Linenfold” shade is paired with a gilt bronze “Double Scroll” table base. The lamp retains its original heat cap with coordinating glass panels. Both the shade and base of this authentic Tiffany lamp are signed.
