These unusual end tables are an early and rare example of slab type furniture designed by American master woodworker George Nakashima dating to the 1950s, shortly after he settled in New Hope.
Formed entirely of American black walnut, each table features four thin splayed spindle legs which support a thick rectangular live-edge slab.
These tables feature the rare addition of a smaller secondary element; each is paired with a floating miniature table with a highly figured live edge which can be repositioned in a variety of configurations, resulting in a stepped effect.
A digital copy of the original order card from Nakashima Studios is available.
